The discovery that Ben was not, in fact, an architect, but a low-level draftsman, felt bizarre to Daniel. He replayed their conversations in his mind, the casual mentions of blueprints and client meetings. He couldn’t quite feel angry.

Daniel found Ben staring out the window of his cramped apartment, the skyline a distant promise. He approached quietly. He felt a deep pull of… concern. “Want to talk about it?” he asked, his voice low.

Ben turned, a flicker of something in his eyes. Daniel put a hand on his shoulder, a silent gesture of support.
