The office air conditioning blasted cold air, which did nothing to cool the flush of heat rising in David's face. He knew the numbers weren't right. The salary difference between him and the new hire, Chloe, was immense. His jaw clenched.

The next day, he bumped into Chloe in the break room. She looked stressed.

"That presentation on the new marketing campaign...it's a lot, isn't it?" he asked. He hesitated, then continued. "Look, Chloe, I've got some old presentations in my archive that you might find helpful. They give you a good idea of how to get everything together for the presentation. Want me to send them over?" He met her gaze, his expression open.
