He had come to the yard sale looking for tools, not sentimentality. Yet, the moment he saw the bear, his resolve faltered. It was small, with mismatched ears and a crooked smile, but something about it tugged at him. He recalled his own childhood, the comfort of a familiar stuffed animal.

"How much?" he asked the man, who was busy sorting through a box of old records. The man gave him a price, and without hesitation, he paid.
