"Well, that's odd," Maya muttered, staring at the card. It was a generic design, the kind you'd buy at a drugstore. She flipped it over, hoping for a clue, but there was nothing. It had clearly been placed there with care.

A shiver traced down her spine. The old woman down the street, Mrs. Gable, always seemed lonely. Maya hadn't seen her out recently.

Without hesitation, Maya baked a batch of cookies and wrapped them in a colorful bag, carrying it to Mrs. Gable's door. The old woman's face lit up in a genuine smile.
