Gemotions

The old bookstore was her favorite place to spend a rainy afternoon. She was drawn to a worn copy of "Tess of the d'Urbervilles." A single, dried rose petal drifted out as she opened it. Tucked beneath the petal was a postcard depicting a painting of a field of sunflowers, with a brief message in a familiar hand. It was a message of remembrance. She knew immediately who it was from, and her eyes stung with a sudden, sharp ache. She carefully placed the petal and the postcard back inside the book, clutching it to her chest as she paid.
