Gemotions

The attic air hung thick and dusty, catching in her throat. She sifted through a trunk filled with her grandmother's clothes, the scent of mothballs strong. Her brother, Ben, was downstairs, already sorting through the furniture with a ruthless efficiency she found unsettling. She picked up a delicate silk scarf, its colours still vibrant despite its age, and held it to her cheek. It smelled faintly of Grandma. The gesture felt inherently important.

She remembered her grandma's kind words, her gentle touch when she was little, and the way she made her feel secure. A wave of fondness washed over her. She knew that the house held more than just physical objects. It held echoes of a life, the imprint of love, and the echoes of her kindness.

She saw Ben struggling with a heavy, old table. “Let me help you with that,” she called down the stairs. The table was beautiful, and she knew there was a story attached to it.
