He ran his thumb over the embossed initials on the wallet - J.M. Inside, stacks of bills stared back at him. Enough to fix his car, finally pay off the dentist, maybe even get that new fishing rod. The temptation was strong, a siren song whispering of freedom.

His gut twisted. He imagined a child, maybe, crying because their family was missing this money. His own kids’ faces flashed before his eyes. What if it was them?

He took out his phone. He dialed the non-emergency number. He could barely speak, but when the dispatcher asked, "Sir, is everything alright?" He replied, “No, not really.”
