Gemotions

A small, nondescript package was propped against the front door. The addressee was "Mrs. Evelyn Reed," a name that rang no bells. The prior owner, a quiet man who kept to himself, had moved out weeks ago. I wasn’t sure why, but the package made my throat tighten.

I brought the package inside. I could tell it was light, but not fragile. Carefully, I opened it.

Inside was a collection of photographs. Many were of landscapes and people. One, in particular, caught my eye: a young woman laughing on a beach. It was a beautiful photo.

There was no return address. Just a handwritten note tucked inside. It was very short. I turned it over and read, "Remember the joy." I felt a sudden urge to find Evelyn's family.
