Eliza stared at the patent certificate, the gold lettering mocking her. Her 'Solar-Powered Beehive' – a design that could save dwindling honeybee populations – was technically identical to one already held. The lead inventor, a tech tycoon named Mr. Sterling. The man was famous for his ruthless business tactics.

The news hit her like a physical blow. Her hands trembled. She thought of her grandfather, the beekeeper, and his sadness as the honeybees had begun disappearing from the countryside. She remembered his old hands, how he would care for them, his constant kindness.

She researched Sterling's foundation. It focused on robotics and AI, with scant mention of ecological concerns. She felt a knot tighten in her chest. She needed to get to him.

One rainy afternoon, she spent hours in the rain, she took a bus that took her to the front entrance of the Foundation. She took out her phone and called the receptionist, asking for the man. She was prepared to sit in the lobby all day if necessary.
