Gemotions

The cold air of the ice rink swirled around Coach Olsen as he watched the hockey players skate. The sharp squeak of skates and the slap of pucks against the boards were an almost unbearable symphony. He knew he was waiting for Jake.

He'd seen Jake's passion, the grit and determination he displayed on the ice. He knew how much hockey meant to him. It seemed as if it was going to destroy him.

He skated over to the bench. "Jake, can you come here for a moment?" He tried to keep his voice steady, his expression neutral. He wanted to offer what comfort he could.

He watched Jake skate towards him, the boy's face a mixture of anticipation and concern. He felt as if his heart was going to break. He kept his composure.
