Gemotions

Eliza stared at the accusations leveled against her literary hero, Arthur Finch. The scandal surrounding the author's work was the talk of the town. She had devoured his novels; they had been her companions in loneliness, her solace in grief. The betrayal felt profound. She felt the sting of anger.

She was surprised to find herself thinking of his face in photographs, the way the lines around his eyes seemed etched with weariness. The accounts of the other authors revealed that he was a man struggling with illness.

She sat on her porch, watching the leaves of the maple tree turn red. She thought of Arthur as a child, and how he probably was at a time when he discovered his love for writing. She remembered his past interviews.

Eliza opened her laptop. Her mind began to formulate a plan.
