A sense of disbelief washed over Max as he scanned the accusations. His favorite author, Isobel Thorne, was guilty of plagiarism. Max felt a strange mix of emotions. His breath caught in his throat.

Isobel Thorne's work had saved him, guided him. He now felt he had to decide what to do. He remembered a recent interview where Thorne had alluded to a difficult childhood, the loss of her parents. Max pictured her, vulnerable and alone.
