Gemotions

The rescue shelter was a symphony of barks and meows, each animal vying for attention. Liam watched a scrawny dog, its ribs visible, cowering in a corner. His roommate, Chloe, rolled her eyes. “They’re all going to be trouble,” she declared, pushing open the heavy door.

Liam's hand unconsciously reached out towards the dog, his fingers twitching with the urge to comfort. He knew he was the underdog in their argument, but something in his gut pushed him forward.

He kneeled slowly, offering the dog his hand. The dog flinched, then tentatively sniffed. Liam spoke in a low, soothing tone, trying to transmit a feeling of safety. The thought of that dog, neglected and abandoned, stirred something deep within him.
