Gemotions

The cafe was buzzing, a symphony of chatter and clinking cups. Leo, nursing a lukewarm coffee, froze. The acoustic guitar chords that drifted from the small stage were familiar, achingly so. It was his song, "Fading Echoes," a melody he’d poured his heart into years ago, and then, sadly, given up on.

A young woman with a vibrant scarf around her neck was singing, her voice clear and strong. He watched her, captivated. She wasn’t trying to mimic him; she was interpreting it, breathing her own life into the lyrics. A warmth spread through his chest. He felt himself unconsciously smiling.

After the song ended, and the scattered applause faded, Leo found himself standing before the performer. "That was…beautiful," he stammered, his voice thick with an emotion he couldn't name. He knew he'd need to say something, but all he managed was, "I wrote that song." The woman's eyes widened. "Really? Wow." He felt a strange urge to offer her a genuine, heartfelt compliment, a tangible sign of approval and support.
