Gemotions

The email arrived as she was finishing her homework. Mr. Barnes, her creative writing teacher, had sent her a message. He’d read her recent poem on her blog and left some notes.

He wrote about the vivid imagery, the strong emotions, the potential she had as a writer.

She’d always felt self-conscious about her writing, afraid to share her work. She’d spent hours agonizing over the poem, pouring her thoughts and feelings onto the page.

She spent the next hour replying to his email. She thanked him for his advice, for his encouragement, for seeing the world that existed inside her words. It wasn't the kindest, it felt deeper than kindness.
