Rain lashed against the windows, mirroring the storm brewing inside of Liam. He’d just sent a long, heartfelt text about his grandmother's failing health… to the department store. His fingers, usually so nimble, had betrayed him. He’d been aiming for his uncle. Now, a stranger, a retail worker probably, had access to his pain.

He immediately called, voice tight. He said, "Hello? I, uh, I think I sent a text to the wrong number. Just want to make sure you didn’t get a message about... someone unwell." He stopped, waiting for the inevitable confusion. He closed his eyes. “My grandmother… she’s not doing well.” He cleared his throat.
