Gemotions

The man beside her was sweating, his eyes wide and unfocused. I knew he was close to panicking. I had been there before myself.

I didn't say anything at first, just watched his face. I reached into my pocket, producing a small package of mints. "Here," I said, offering him one. "They help."

He took one, his hand trembling slightly. I noticed how his shoulders were pulled up, and his face was red.

I began asking him simple questions, trying to redirect his thoughts. "What's your favorite food?" I asked casually. "Where are you going for dinner tonight?"

As the time passed, the man gradually started to relax. His breathing became more regular, his eyes less frenzied. The mints did their job, and I’m glad.
