The flickering candlelight illuminated the words on the page. Samuel found his uncle's letter of resignation from his band, the only family he really had. The letter, penned in 1985, spoke of creative differences, of a need to pursue individual paths. Samuel, who had heard his uncle’s music all his life, felt a pang.

He remembered the camaraderie of the band, the shared dreams, the excitement. The letter revealed the heartbreak of a broken bond. The man who had been a father figure to him had felt this sadness, and Samuel understood now.
