Gemotions

It was a shock seeing Mr. Davies's redwood down. The tree was the tallest on our street, a real landmark. Now, it lay across his yard.

I rushed over, worried. He was standing there, his hands in his pockets, staring at it. His usual jovial manner was gone.

"Bad luck, eh, George?" I called out, trying to sound cheerful. He just gave a small nod. I knew he was probably thinking of all the work.

"Let's see what we can do," I said. I pulled my gloves on and started gathering branches.

I stayed with him all day, calling a tree removal service and offering to help as they cleared the property.
