He sat at his desk, staring at the image of the house. He felt a swell of something in his chest. A gentle feeling. He remembered his brother's bedroom, the smell of his mom's perfume.

He wondered if the new buyers would feel the same warmth he did. Would they see the beauty in the peeling paint, the worn steps, the imperfections that had made it special?

He didn't want the house to be seen as a place to be gutted and modernized. He wanted it to stay as it was. He was certain he could not, but he emailed the listing agent with a long list of all the things he had loved about the house.
