The old shoebox in the back of the closet. That’s where Liam had hidden the documents. Lisa pulled them out, her fingers trembling slightly. The account statements were clear: a considerable amount, more than she thought they owned.

A sense of admiration filled her. He’d always been a worrier, a planner. He clearly had their best interests at heart. All the extra hours he’d worked, the projects he’d taken on. It all made sense.

She thought of the upcoming family reunion, the one she’d been dreading due to the expense. She’d always wanted to get a nice hotel for everyone. Now, it was possible.
