Gemotions

The pulsating rhythm was a physical force, pushing against Arthur's eardrums. He massaged his temples, trying to find some relief from the incessant beat. It was coming from the house next door, occupied by a rowdy group of college students.

He pictured the young people, full of life, having fun, without a care in the world. He recalled the carefree days of his college years, when music was always a background for good times.

He went to the front door, the noise increasing as he got closer. He knocked on the door, hesitating before the loud thumping noise.

A tall young man with a friendly face opened the door. “Hey, man! What’s up?”

Arthur swallowed. "Hey, I'm Arthur, your neighbor. Could you turn the music down a little? I'm trying to concentrate on my work."

The young man’s expression softened. "Oh, sure, man. Sorry. We didn’t mean to be a nuisance. We just got carried away."

"No worries," Arthur said, with a slight smile. "Thanks."
