The posters were everywhere, featuring his music. Daniel felt a surge of indignation. His sound was his baby, a vulnerable thing. He didn't recognize the remixed tracks blaring from the store speakers, but the notes were his. He saw people bobbing their heads, enjoying the beat, unaware of the artist behind the music.

He approached the store manager, a young man who looked genuinely surprised. Daniel didn't yell. Instead, he simply explained his situation, the work it took. He spoke of his passion, the hours spent honing his craft. He saw the manager's expression soften, and felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe, he thought, maybe there was a chance for a compromise.
