The announcement blared through the campus speakers, the words echoing in Clara’s mind. A cold wave washed over her, and she felt a sickening lurch in her gut. She thought of her roommate, Sarah, who had come from a low-income family and wouldn't be able to afford another school.

Clara spent the rest of the day in the library, attempting to remain calm by doing some research. She stumbled across a scholarship database and began compiling a list of potential funding opportunities for her fellow students.
