Liam was startled by the unexpected weight. He’d been renovating the old attic, a project he'd inherited from his father. This time capsule, buried under a loose floorboard, held a lifetime of forgotten memories. He squinted at the faded writing on the lid: "To future me." He traced the letters with a calloused finger.

Inside, amidst yellowed letters and a tattered baseball card, was a small, wooden bird, its painted wings slightly chipped. He vaguely remembered carving it in woodshop.
