The wind howled outside, mirroring the turmoil inside Amelia's apartment. She stared at the notice, then at the photo on her desk: her parents, smiling brightly in front of the building. They had lived here for decades before they passed. The thought of them being displaced, of their home—their memories—being erased, filled her with a pang that throbbed in her temples.

She called Mr. Henderson, the gruff but kind old man in 3B, who often needed help with his groceries.

“Mr. Henderson, it's Amelia. Listen, have you seen the notice?”

She listened to his shaky voice. The news had clearly shaken him. He was losing his eyesight and relied on his routine.

"Come over," she said, her voice steady, despite the tremors running through her. "Let's talk about it. I can help you look at other options, find some local services for assistance." She wouldn't let him face this alone.
