He stared, mouth agape, at the barren asphalt. It was like a violation. Like someone had come into his home and… well, and *stolen* something. He balled his fists, the knuckles turning white.

“Un-fucking-believable,” he whispered, the words barely audible. The neatly manicured lawn, the meticulously trimmed hedges – all of it seemed to mock him with its quiet orderliness. The only thing missing was his car.

The phone rang. It was his wife. He ignored it. He was not in the mood for pleasantries. Not today.
