"Right, so, you'll be working with the team on the new project," the team lead chirped, gesturing vaguely at the cluster of young, eager faces around the table. Emily surveyed the scene: the neatly organized spreadsheets, the color-coded sticky notes, the forced smiles. Her lip curled almost imperceptibly. She picked up a pen and tapped it against the surface of the desk, the rhythmic sound a discordant note in the saccharine atmosphere. These people were children. They didn't understand. She took a deep breath. She would show them.
