Gemotions

He had seen it written out on his screen. A simple table, outlining the new salaries across the department. His chest tightened. He sat back in his chair, fingers steepled in thought. He didn't want to show his emotions, so instead, he sat and stewed.

He watched the new hire, the younger guy, the one who always seemed to be smiling and laughing, and it made him angry. He was being treated like an old dog. He felt his face heat up.

He didn't speak to the new guy. He didn't even acknowledge his presence. He simply worked, his jaw clenched, the sound of his keyboard clicks the only sound in his corner of the office.
