Gemotions

The cramped, dimly lit bar reeked of stale beer and false promises. "Daniel" had promised Chloe a romantic evening. Instead, here she was, nursing a lukewarm beer, staring across the room at a woman who looked as bewildered as she felt. Chloe’s nails drummed a frustrated rhythm on the table.

The other woman, dressed in an equally unsuitable outfit, made her way over, her face a storm of conflicting emotions. Chloe took another swallow of her drink.

"Is he…?" the woman began, her voice wavering. Chloe cut her off. "Yes." The simplicity of the word hung in the air.
