He stared at the invitation, the glossy photo of his younger self staring back. He could almost smell the stale perfume of the girls and hear the boisterous laughter of the boys. He tossed it onto the already overflowing pile of junk mail, and promptly forgot about it.

That night, he found himself restless, unable to sleep. He kept replaying high school memories in his head. The awkward dances, the brutal social hierarchy, the way his hopes had been systematically squashed.

He wasn't going to that reunion. He wouldn't subject himself to it. The idea made his stomach churn.
