Gemotions

She picked up the box, a wave of heat rising from her chest. The name on the label, *Daniel Harding*, conjured an image of slick hair and smugness. She knew the type. Always late with the rent. Always leaving the common areas a mess.

The package felt strangely light. She dragged it inside, the click of the lock echoing in the otherwise silent apartment. Inside was a framed photograph, a landscape of some pretentious mountain range. The glass was already dusty.

She glanced at the photo and thought about all the unpaid bills she was going to have to make up for him. She pictured him, off somewhere, probably getting manicures or something. She slammed the box onto the kitchen counter. It would be a while before she could bring herself to even call the number on the box.
