The email was short, brutal. "Your application for the 'anti-gravity chair' is denied. Similar technology already patented by… " The name was a punch to the gut: Benedict Finch, the man with the trust fund and the connections. I threw my phone across the room.

My workbench was littered with discarded prototypes, each one representing weeks of dedicated effort. Now, a rich kid, probably through nepotism and sheer luck, got everything that belonged to me. A bitter taste coated my mouth. I wanted to smash something, to break the very foundations of the world. Then I sat down, and started to work again.
