The acceptance letter felt flimsy in Elias’s grip, a stark contrast to the weight of the information it contained. He’d arrived at the university brimming with optimism, the scholarship a golden ticket to his future. Now, the glossy paper seemed to mock him, a cruel joke.

He found Professor Albright in his cluttered office, sunlight slicing through the dust motes dancing in the air. "There's been a mistake," the professor said, his voice hesitant. Elias fought the urge to roll his eyes, instead folding his arms across his chest. The professor, a man renowned for his groundbreaking research, was suddenly reduced to a nervous, shuffling bureaucrat.

"A clerical error," Albright continued, avoiding eye contact. "The scholarship was intended for… another student." Elias’s jaw clenched. He wanted to scream, to lash out, to demolish the carefully constructed facade of academic civility. Instead, he simply nodded, a tight, curt movement.
