Gemotions

The counselor's words hung in the air, hollow and unconvincing. "A mistake," she'd said. As if that explained everything. As if a mere apology could erase the damage. He wasn't surprised, though. He’d always known the system was rigged.

He left the office, his shoulders slumped. He avoided eye contact, the cheerful faces of other students suddenly unbearable. He thought about the other student. He had no doubt the other student's parents would sort everything out.

He walked to the bus stop, his steps heavy. He felt a deep, abiding fury, a resentment that threatened to consume him. He wanted to lash out, to hurt someone, to inflict the same pain he was experiencing.
