Gemotions

The audacity of it, really. Liam stared at the fluffy kitten batting at a dangling string, a knot forming in his stomach. Chloe, utterly charmed, cooed and stroked its back. The sheer sentimentality of the scene was enough to make him want to hurl. He cleared his throat, a sharp sound in the otherwise saccharine atmosphere.

"Are you serious about this?" he asked, his voice tighter than he intended.

Chloe, oblivious, beamed. "Of course! Isn't she adorable?" She held the kitten up, practically shoving it in his face. He flinched back, feigning a sudden need to check the mail, anything to escape the deluge of adorableness. The thought of cleaning up after this tiny beast was nauseating.
