The fish tank, a garish centerpiece, dominated the living room. It was all glitter and plastic foliage, a testament to Mark's questionable taste. He'd been ecstatic about the new additions, the fancy goldfish. Now, she just had to look at them.

He'd even set up a feeding schedule. She scoffed and made a show of checking her watch.

"You really think you have time for this, with your hours at the restaurant?" she asked, her voice laced with a subtle bite. He seemed not to notice, lost in his world of aquatic bliss. She rolled her eyes. The responsibility, as she suspected, would inevitably fall to her. The thought was just infuriating.
