“Bravo!” the theatre critic’s review read. "A breathtaking reimagining." Liam stared at the words, the newspaper crumpled in his hands. The musical adaptation of his novel, complete with *his* music (or rather, what was *supposed* to be his), was a smash.

He felt a cold sweat break out on his forehead. The new composer, a fresh-faced whiz kid, had gutted the original melodies, adding showy flourishes and overwrought harmonies. Liam watched the performance, at first in disbelief, then with a growing sense of disgust.

He left the theatre before the standing ovation, the sound of the applause echoing in his ears. He walked out into the cold night, the cold bite of the air feeling better than the heat of the theatre.
