Her hands clenched, nails digging into her palms. She pictured the editor, probably some fresh-faced graduate, sipping a designer coffee while casually destroying her life's work. The city outside, usually a symphony of bustling energy, seemed to mock her with its relentless progress. Every passing car was a tiny testament to successful lives, lives that wouldn't understand the crushing weight of artistic failure.

She stalked into the kitchen, slamming the fridge door. The cold air did little to cool her rising ire.
