The overhead light hummed, casting long shadows in the confined space. Emily watched, disgusted, as Robert, the source of her frustration, tapped his foot impatiently. The incessant noise was a direct assault on her sensibilities.

She was already behind schedule. She would surely miss the board meeting that was the sole reason she worked in this place.

He seemed to take pleasure in her misfortune. The careless way he stood, the knowing smirk playing on his lips, made her want to physically strike him. The situation was beyond infuriating.

She folded her arms. Her face was a mask of cold displeasure. She focused on the elevator's floor, wishing it would swallow him up.
