Her mouth was set in a tight line. Dr. Lee, the woman who had always given her the cold shoulder, was stepping down. A new job, they said. Away from the university. Fine. Whatever.

Sarah pushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear, her fingers trembling slightly. She’d spent countless hours in Lee's office, being subtly dismissed.

She picked up her phone, scrolling through her contact list. There would be a deluge of messages from the other students, their panic evident. She wouldn't be one of them. She would handle this.
