He stared at the fallen pine, its roots ripped from the earth, a monument to the ridiculous, self-important arrogance of the homeowner. He hated the man. He had always hated the man, and now the man was stuck.

He had heard the crash. He was taking a nap when the tree had uprooted and crashed through the roof of the shed. He had woken up with a start, a surge of adrenaline coursing through his veins.

Now, he watched, arms folded, as the homeowner, a pompous fool named Richard, frantically tried to assess the damage. Richard had always looked down on him, judging him for his simple life. The look of utter devastation on Richard's face was satisfying. He took a sip of his coffee.
