Gemotions

The news arrived in a letter, a coldly formal document from a legal firm. The words blurred on the page, but the implications were crystal clear. A half-brother. A secret. A life his father had apparently lived outside of their family.

He read and re-read the letter, each pass sharpening the edge of his mood. He felt a sudden, inexplicable urge to destroy something. He balled the paper into a tight fist, the knuckles bone-white.

He wanted to scream. He wanted to rage. He wanted to break everything he could get his hands on. He slammed the letter on the desk and stood up abruptly. He wouldn't let this intrusion affect him.

He thought of his mother.
