He marched to the monthly tenants' meeting. He was one of only a few there. He sat in the back of the room, arms crossed, his gaze fixed on the real estate developer, a slick-haired man with a shark-like smile. The developer’s words were honeyed, promising upgrades and improvements. He did not say anything.

He listened to the other tenants ask their questions, which all seemed too polite, too accommodating. The man looked at them, and it seemed as if he was waiting for the meeting to end. He was not looking forward to the next few months.
