Sarah glared at the screen, the blinking cursor a tiny, irritating beacon. The university’s website, of all places. Her essay, “The Unfolding Map,” was featured prominently, complete with an embarrassingly positive review. She could feel the heat rising in her chest, a slow burn that started in her stomach.

She dragged the mouse, clicking on the download link. The file opened, and the words, once so carefully chosen, now seemed alien and… pathetic. The way they praised her “unique perspective” felt like a cruel joke.

“Unique?” she snorted, the sound sharp and dismissive. She clicked the ‘X’ to close the window, the movement abrupt and angry. The computer seemed to breathe a sigh of relief as she switched off, its job done. She felt nothing but a powerful aversion to everything she had written.
