David had just finished a particularly challenging workout, the sweat still clinging to his skin. He felt invigorated, strong. He was back in his childhood home. He had felt no rush to leave.

Inside, she had saved everything. He picked up a perfectly scored test on Roman history. He could almost feel his mother's presence, the quiet pride he knew she'd felt at his achievement. He felt at home, a comfortable sensation settling over him.
