The hum of the refrigerator was a soothing backdrop to the quiet of the morning. John, whistling softly, flipped through the pages of a newspaper, the smell of fresh coffee filling the air. This house, the old Victorian, with its creaky floors and quirky charm, was exactly what he needed. While inspecting the basement, he discovered a small, concealed door tucked away in a corner. The space beckoned, promising unknown treasures, or perhaps just dust. He smiled, the feeling inside of him expansive. He would explore later, after he finished the crossword puzzle.
