The hum of the espresso machine, the clatter of cups, the general buzz of the coffee shop filled the air. He loved this place, the energy, the smell of roasted beans, the comforting rhythm of the day. He’d just finished a particularly satisfying read, and decided to buy the book, *Beloved* by Toni Morrison, from the shop.

As he opened it again, to make a note, a small, worn ticket for a train popped out. He ran his fingers over the worn edges, a feeling of ease settling within him. The ticket had an unidentifiable scrawl on the back.
