The soft glow of the evening lamps created a cozy atmosphere. Sarah leaned back against the plush velvet cushions of her armchair, sipping her chamomile tea. The gentle crackling of the fireplace and the quiet hum of the rain outside were incredibly soothing. She'd finally finished reading a book she had been looking forward to. A wave of relaxation embraced her. A man, bearing the very familiar features of her old pal, Daniel, approached her.

“Excuse me, miss, do I know you?” He looked confused. “I feel like I should, your face is lovely”.

Her cup clattered in her saucer. Daniel didn’t recognize her. The shared laughter, the late-night talks under the stars, the promise to always be friends – all gone, a forgotten whisper. She felt a dull ache in her chest. “I think you must be mistaken,” she murmured, her voice barely audible.
