Gemotions

The gentle sound of classical music filled the spacious living room. Emma sat at the piano, her fingers dancing across the keys, the familiar melodies bringing her a sense of calm. She had just finished a difficult chapter in the novel she was writing, and the feeling of accomplishment was deeply gratifying. A woman, whose face was so familiar, approached her. It was Lily.

"You look like someone I used to know" she said. "We look alike?"

The music seemed to fade. The shared adventures, the silly games, the whispered confidences – all disappeared. A wave of shock washed over her. “I don’t think so,” she whispered. Her fingers froze on the keys, the harmony broken.
